Electric supercharger?

Not sure where I could put this, but I hope here will work.

I wAs talking with a guy at work tonight and he bought an electric inline blower fan, saying he is making a "supercharger" out of it. At 12 volt it says it puts out 145 cfm and he said it's like putting around 5psi of "boost" to it. It's 3" and he said you put an open conical filter on it and then the other end to you air intake tube be your your MAF sensor. He wasn't doing it on an xj, but I wonder about doing it on mine if this seems like a possible idea for cheap power. I already have a 3" intake setup on my 97 4.0

My questions are:
1) has anyone else heard of this?

2) has anyone done this?

3) does this seem possible?

4) could it be worth it?

I hope the picture of the fan/blower shows up.

Thanks for any possible insight, and let the trolling begin

Google it. Been tried before over the years. It does not do anything but waste your money

No. Please don't waste your money on this. There is absolutely no possibly way this is equivalent of putting 5 psi of boost into your engine.

Instead of that, consider doing the 99+ intake manifold swap, neon injectors, or a header for your exhaust. Those would be cheap alternatives for a power increase.

Mitsubishi, Toyota, and Mazda have one they market overseas, gives 3-4lbs of boost, and made of aluminum with better looking blades than that as well, plus some extra stuff. Have heard there is another brand out there that has a wastegate and all and gives up to 7-8lbs.
I wouldn't do this till I had done as many of the power mods possible though.

I'm going to say that at 145cfm, if anything it will restrict airflow.

Just was curious. I figure if nothing else it just creates a vortex in the intake, which you could buy a tb spacer or one of those vortex inserts.

Good for aprox. 712.3279658 rwhp running E85, YMMV. Also useful as a hair dryer for gerbils and other small rodents.

Here's a good video for your perusal. Pushing a heck of a lot more than 145CFM.

Yeah didn't really plan on it. Like I originally said, just wanted to see if anyone has heard or even tried it.

Coincidentally I watched that last night. Pretty impressive, but utterly impractical.

AHHHH not this ****, another disease brought to the Jeep community from the no brained ricers. This has been busted thousands of times on youtube, performance magazines, tv, etc.

Want power? That costs $$$$$$

The only "cheap or free" upgrades that the Jeeps like are things like tune-ups and throttle cable adjustments (nice power "gain")
