Has anyone ever added electric side steps to an XJ? I'm trying to figure out how I can attach some "Power Steps" (http://www.amp-research.com/products...ies/powerstep/) onto my XJ. Looking for some advice before I drop a grand on some sidesteps I won't be able to make work!!!
Thanks all for the help!

I read you build thread just to make sure you're not a senior citizen before I make a comment. Found out you're not old. Do you care for an elderly person that has problems getting in ? Jk your Jeep has to many offroad modifications not to look silly with one of those installed unless you really need it I guess.

if you're strictly mall crawling (which i would assume as you're using this for advertising purposes) then go for it. if you actually used it you're gonna be pretty sad the first time you drag it on a stump/rock and destroy the thing

My main use for this would he for my dog to get in the jeep. I looked at the Warrior Products rock sliders with build it steps which is an option, but I think they are most likely going to be useless as they will be right next to the body for the xj and therefore only maybe a couple inches lower than the door itself.
Basically I want something that drops 9-12" but retracts up for ground clearance...
Thanks for the advice though!

What about a ramp? It could double as a 'sand ladder' or 'mud ramp'.

I have one of the ramps shown above. Used it for awhile. It's okay, but the dogs always seem unsteady on it. Also, it's bulky and a pain to haul around, especially once the dogs are in the back as well.
I found this product works much better. The dogs like it more, and it's smaller.
