Just replaced my mechanical fan with a 2500cfm electric fan. The OEM electric fan is unchanged, so total cfm around ~3500 cfm if the 01 electric fan is ~1000.

So far I am happy with the setup. I will have to add some insulating foam to the rough edges of the hack job fan shroud, but even without I am steady at 210-215 with the A/C running full blast in 98* weather. Still want to flush and acid wash the cooling system.

Biggest PITA was taking off the mechanical fan bracket and pounding out the clutch fan bearing. Took me about 3 hours of heating, pb blaster, and a big hammer to get that thing out. You may/may not have to do it to clear the extra space for the electric fan motor.

Also measure several times with a string to get a perfect size on the new belt routing. I was lazy about that and ended up having to swap belts at Autozone about 6 times. Ended up with a Duralast 800k6 (2032mm).

I just used an angle grinder and cut through it in about 2 minutes

That was my plan as well. However, the 3.5" deep fan motor bumped up against the bearing tip, and the motor may move 1-2 inches during operation. Just keep an eye on it.

That's the smart and quick way of doing it.
