Anyone have any experience with any of the cheap snorkels off of ebay? I'm looking for a snorkel after hydrolocking last trip but not wanting to pay $350+ for a safari or whatever. Not into the pvc pipe either...this is something i'd rather buy than make.

Thanks in advance!

this has been covered a couple times in the last month

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ebay+snorkel+cherokeeforum

please at least attempt to search it first

another thing to remember if you are playing in water on regular basis is the designers of the XJ decided it was a good idea to put the alternator at the lowest point where it tends to get submerged and soaked

I used the site's search function and just searched for snorkel. Didn't see anything about the ebay ones. And yes i've already experienced an alternator problem. Thanks man.

Yes, i've been reading about alternator relocation since my last wheeling trip. Thanks anyways. And i honestly had no idea that all the cheap snorkels on ebay were from china...that thread you are talking about i spent probably 2 seconds on after i saw chinese lol. Plus i've never made a purchase off of ebay before so i'd rather purchase from the us than china. There is however one that ships $150 from florida i may purchase.

if its cheap its probly made in china.....doesnt matter where it ships from, the whole buy local is a nice thought but when your country repeatedly screws you on pricing its easy to go else where.....kinda why even though im Canadian atleast 75% of what i buy is bought online from the states....where its made is another story.

sorta like the diehard "Buy American" crowd they make me laugh when it comes to stuff like trucks.......having worked in the auto industry for a fair time its funny when you start pulling apart new vehicles that have the "made in texas" sticker then elsewhere in less obvious places on the vehicle it will say manufactured in mexico.

I purchased one from this seller a few months ago. Pretty good quality I thought.

I'm cosidering buying this exact one. How did it fit with your bushwackers? I don't have the flares but i do have my fenders cut a good ways up on my fenders.

Thanks for the other responses. Also on the buying american thing...it's not as much as buying from the us instead of china, it's idk what to expect when buying something across seas lol. Plus i'd expect faster shipping if i buy within the states.

I ended up selling the snorkel because I did not realize it would interfere with the bushwacker flares Would have to trim 3/8 to 1/2" out of the flare, and I didn't have the heart to do it. (Im also very picky about how it looks)

It's understandable. The way i cut my fenders was marked the outside edge of the factory flares and cut. I think i'm gonna pull the trigger on buying it today, hope it works lol.

Thanks for the info.

Just took your suggestion and place my order. Hope he doesn't mind shipping to an APO. Being stationed in Germany is NOT Jeep friendly!
