You can also wire a toggle switch to the fan relay. I did that, and flip it on when I'm below about 35 mph on hot days. Can't remember where I read about this, but it was easy and inexpensive.

The reviews on that Hayden Adujustable Controler aren't very good. Anyone know of others that might be better quality?

you should just get another fan and have it kick on when the clutch fan does.
I don't like the toggle switch idea. I need something (thermostat or piggyback into current system) that takes care of that for me. Let's say I forget to flip it on and jump out to help another wheeler or something. My 4.0 is cooked before I get back in the jeep. just my $.02
damn! I didn't read the reviews before I posted that! sorry! sounds like you got a few other names to look into.

I think i'll go that route. Wiring in an override switch, but still contemplating replacing the manual fan to have two e-fans independently opperated. Leaving the stock e-fan alone to operate the way it was setup to from the factory and the replacement fan wired into an aftermaket thermostatically controlled switch to come on at 165*.

The only time your thermostat is at or even below 165 is when you first start it. These engines are not like diesels where they lose heat at idle. once your coolant temp reaches the thermostat threshold, it opens and closes as needed to maintain minimum/maximum operating temp, usually 190-195. By the time you start the engine and drive it 2 miles, the engine is up to operating temp. By wiring in a switch to the thermo sensor, you would wire it to run in "auto" or "on". By forcing the fan to run in the "on position" would be used for steep ascents, towing or at idle during the summer to keep idle temps below 210ish. at that temp, the fan already kicks on. leave the fan in the "auto" position during normal driving so that the fan can cycle as neccessary. This way you have 2 fans that will pull when the ECU calls for it and one extra to pull when you like. But there is no reason to run the fan before 165* those fans will not pull enough cold air on a hot day to "pre-cool" the coolant in the Rad
