Default E brake cables won't reach after lift

I just put my 2 door at about 6 inches of lift and the e brake cables won't reach. Is the common/easiest fix to this problem to just cut and extend the rod where the 2 cables attach to the e brake handle?

thanks

That tells you that you lifted it too high.

Yes, that will work. Either that or find some longer cables. Seems I've seen people using XJ cables.

I have an xj and those cables won't fit. And yeah it probably doesn't belong here, sorry mods.
anyone know a truck that has longer cables that would work?

Moved to Advanced Tech.

You can get cable connectors and just lengthen your cable. I have several in the garage, I could get a pic later..

Depending on the year, if the junction is mounted to the frame rail, move it back. I've done that on a few lifts I've done at work. No problems.

this^

however, you may need to mod the adjuster rod a bit to get proper tension.
there are many easy ways to lengthen it.

Same here but mines a 5spd so I need something. I installed a Micro Lock. It uses the pressure from holding the pedal hard and flipping a lever and brakes are now applied through juice pressure till you flip it open.
I like it. I set it up to hold the front wheels. Not recommended for over night parking though.

http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/brakes/xjhoseext02/

that'll get you set up with proper length lines for brake and e-brake using YJ lines with part numbers
