Those threads mean nothing to me, i bolted the box straight up to my frame with no spacers, no fab, no troubles and it works perfectly on my jeep.

And you probably crushed part of your frame rail in the process....

I've installed the Durango box on my XJ, and my son's XJ. Both required an additional 1/4" spacer to keep the box from contacting the frame rail. Everyone that I know that has installed the Durango box did the same exact thing.

Just because they did it that way doesnt mean everyone else has to, i also have a steering box brace on it as well so i have no worries about my UNIBODY.

Wanna take some pictures for us then? I'm curious to see it installed with zero spacers since I've never seen that before on any installed Durango box.

Considering FrankZ's experience with XJ's. I wouldn't under mind what he's saying. Every thing I've read to do this swap successfully and w.o problems down the road. I've seen the 1/4" additional spacing being applied.
Not to say it won't bolt right in, but what about potential cracks later on if not done w that additional 1/4"?

Oh, so im the thickheaded one huh? When that other guy is saying there is one way and one way only-his way? All im trying to do is give other options rather than paying for some stupid spacer that he is trying to get everybody to buy. Maybe you should get your head out of your a$$ and understand the things on this thread before butting in.

A spacer that I'm trying to get everyone to buy? You need head down to the eyeglass store and have them check your prescription son.

At no point did I ever suggest, infer, or hint at any purchase from me, my site, or anywhere else.

If you had taken the time to read the links I posted and looked at the purdy colored pictures you would have quickly deduced that the spacers I refereed to are easily fabricated out of low cost materials or stacked washers (not my favorite BTW).

So before you go casting dispersions and engage in frivolous slanderous commentary, I suggest you line up all you little ducks in a nice neat row and check your facts.

And you are correct...there is only one way to do it but it isn't my way friend. It's simply the right way.

Have a good evening.

It's possible that you have the samller Durango box then...which is the same size as an XJ box. The larger and more desirable gearbox MUST HAVE AN ADDITIONAL SPACER INSTALLED.

Buy one, build one steal one.....just put it in.

The gear box will not mount properly without one. Read the threads, learn from those older, wiser and certainly more experienced than you with this mod.

The box i got was bigger than the old one and it bolted straight up, no unibody crushing, no problems, and drives fine-better than before. Its not like the box went "WAIT A MINUTE! There MUST be a spacer before you bolt me on." i dont know if the PO did something and that was why there was no spacer in there, but i looked at the new box before i put it on and it was totally fine to bolt on. All im saying is that it works totally fine on my xj, and you were trying to tell me it didnt, thats why i got a little heated (that other guy that called me thickheaded didnt help much)

Lol wow this thread is getting heated. I'm going to put the box in this weekend and just stack some washers in their. But should I put them in between the stock spacer and the box???
