RWKHausSupply maybe you can help me then...I see someone posted in this thread they have 88 knuckles onto there 96 axle..and it makes me wonder.

I have a 94 Hpd30 I swapped into my 88 to ditch my disco axle. I swapped my 88 knuckles & calipers onto the 94, using my 88hubs ect.
Everything works...but the knuckles do not seat on the ball joints all the way? Theres like 1/8" gap between the knuckles and the top of the ball joint..I cranked them down to 72ftlbs which is the torque spec I believe.

So do I get ball joints for a 88 and put them on this 94 axle? The lower ball joints are shot, so they need to be replaced, but the uppers are semi-new..so I'm curious if I have to replace them or is it ok to leave the knuckle how it is?

I swapped in an 88 axle into my 95 during 4x4 convo (free axle). I dont remember any issues but you are going the opposite way. Have you put the vehicle weight back on the wheel to check the camber?

Haha edited my above posted..camber on the passenger side is horrible because the lowers are SHOT. I can wiggle the lowers with my pinky lol..so they need replacing for sure.
I'm just trying to figure out if I can leave the uppers since they are Semi-new..less than 8 months old. Or do I need to replace them because the knuckle doesn't seat all the way?

Also I know theres a set of MOOG 87-90 ball joints for sale for about 150shipped, or should I just grab the autozone ones, for around 130 & get the life time warranty. Everything so far on my jeep has been an autozone part and I've had great luck..plus I love having the free replacements whenever I need.
I guess I'm questioning how long the Moogs will last cause I won't have a warranty on them.

Ok so I don't need it. Thanks. Got that straight. I'll take some stuff apart again and look at it on Friday. Otherwise I'm assuming I'm having my problem because in using two different brand of ball joints

its the same principle as thi except there on the bottom im wondering if the new ball joint has a different taper than the old so the new sleeve would be required...http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-...cj7-castor.htm

The 88 calipers will not bolt onto the knuckles & vise versa.

Edit: just referenced the 2 years, 94 & 88 on autozone sit and they both list them as the same part number..think I'll go with those since I'll have the lifetime warranty on them.
And that saves me 80 bucks so I don't have to replace the uppers

Thank you freegdr. Quadratech told me 87-90 were specific but I wasn't sure....wonder why my damn knuckle won't seat all the way!

I got the True OE quality Dana Spicer ones (Better built and longer lasting then Any other OE replacement other then the super high dollar dynatrac type sets) for 140 to your door for a complete set.

And yes ALL of the D30's in the XJ and TJ are the same even the same as the TJ Rubicon D44 axles.

Moog is made by federal mogul corp. Same company who makes felpro gaskets and many other good quality replacement parts.

Ok so another question, I used moog upper ball joints and the duralast lower ball joints (I acquired the upper ones and bought the lower ones), would this cause my bad camber problem? Would they stick out at different lengths? Thanks.

Well friends, after much trouble I went and bought the same brand lower ball joints as the upper ones and got them installed. The camber is still a little positive, but it drives ok.
