Default dual Dana 60 gear question!!

Ok so I am about to start buying parts to build my axles and I will be running a hd Dana 60 rear and hopefully a hp 60 up front but if not I will do a 44 and these will be full width I will be running a spool in the rear and either air locker or elocker up front with 37s so my question is what gearing should I run I was thinkin 4.56 or 4.88 it will be mostly used in the rocks since I do have my other vehicle as my dd so it will get mild street use pretty much just to have fun and show it off on the street and make all the wrangler guys jealous and I will be running a 4.7 stroker so any help would be much appriciated thanks

If your going to do mostly rocks a higher ratio would serve you better.

You're probably going to want to go bigger so break the 5 mark.

Well, you can always drive on the highway no matter what gears....but you might ride a little higher in the rpms and suck down a little more gas. Your choice really.

So unless you are doing a good portion of freeway then a higher gear radio would serve you better.

Most of my highway drive would be with my pickup I was just concerned if I did go in the 5s with my ratio if I would loose a lot of top end speed I just wanna make sure I could still travel at 65 with that ratio since iv never geared this high so i didn't no what the draw back were on the top end

well if you get a gear ratio chart you can figure out where you will be at.

This one is from Quadratec. You can figure out your RPM at 65MPH with your gear and tire size. So with 37" tires and 5.29 gears you would be sitting at 3123 RPM at 65MPH

5.29 sounds good. I'm running 4.56s with 38s and I find them a bit lacking.

I think that chart is assuming a 1:1 final drive ratio and doesn't account for OD.
