Hey guys,
I am thinking about running a dual battery setup in my jeep! I have sen plenty of threads that heavily stress on not relocating the airbox and such. My plan is to either mount the 2nd batteyr in the pass rear corner of the cargo area or possible mount the battery sideways underneath the back seat. Any tips would be great as far as gauge wire and equipment goes. First time setting up a dual battery. Was also wondering if there is possibly a kit that comes with all the electrical hardware?
I'd prefer to move the airbox rather than buy thick expensive cable and run it all the way to the rear of the vehicle. What are you connecting to the second battery and where are these components located? If you plan on installing the battery sideways make sure that the battery is rated for such an installation.
I believe you could get a trunk mount kit for a drag car,That will give you a box to mount it in and the wires to the battery the rest you can get online like http://www.12voltguy.com/ and others that sell a dual battery kit.Or you can do it yourself if you read up online.

i prefer to not remove the air box because I have read many threads where it nearly destroys the radiator because of too much wait, hense the rear mount. Thanks for the threads though. Will definitely check them out.
If you make an actual tray and tie down for the battery it won't damage the radiator since the battery cannot move. Like I said before if it was me the choice to move an auxiliary battery to the rear would depend on what is going to be powered off the battery. Different strokes for different folks.

If you mount a battery anywhere inside the passenger area make sure to use a gel type battery so you won't get any sulphur fumes inside with you while it is charging. Right now I use 0 gauge welding cable for mine and hid the cable under the passenger door trim. You can cut down on amount of cable by grounding to the transfer case and then picking it up again at the front of the engine
