Thinking of selling a dual alternator bracket depending on the interest in it. You will need to remove your windshield washer fluid bottle and replace it with something smaller and relocate it. Pretty easy. Put the batter where the windshield washer fluid bottle was. Nothing needs modded, the spot there is a perfect fit and all the wiring fits you just need to cut the factory zip ties and relocate them. The 2nd alternator goes where the old battery was and you still keep the A/C!!! Here is a picture of the setup rocking and rolling. Price is still up in the air, some suggestion on what it is worth to you guys would be nice. My idea was you can use this and run the GC 136amp alt that can be had for 25 on a junkyard to 140 at napa... that will give you 210ish amps of power hot.

No pics of just the bracket but I can get more of the setup. Most likely only be offering them for this setup as myself and my friend only have 99 cherokees. Pardon my ignorance but what is different on the renix? Anything is possible
RENIX is different because they used internally-regulated Delco alternators - 12SI (I think) for the 1984-1986, and CS130 1987-1990 (some of those 4-150 engines got little CS121 alternators, but they're uncommon.)
However, with RENIX, there is an advantage - since they're pre-OBD, the ECU won't complain if you run an alternator with an external regulator.
While I know I'd prefer to use a Delco (I'm familiar with them, and I've installed LOADS of them on conversions, kitbuilds, restomods, and industrial equipment,) there's no reason that an ND can't be used there, as long as you have somewhere to mount the external regulator you'll need.
I believe that mounting bracketry in the XJ is similar for the 6-242 going up, but I wouldn't swear to it. If you're not on the manifold side, and you ask nicely, I may be able to take some measurements off of an engine kicking around here somewhere...

Additional cost would be the alternator, voltage regulator, alternator wiring, battery wiring since you will need to extend them when moving the battery (I dont see any possible way of them reaching), new belt. This project just got REALLY expensive.
I am confused about a couple things. I have a 98 and the windshield wiper fluid is inside the drivers side fender. Not under the hood like pre 97. You also say that you have a 99 but yet the picture you posted is of a pre 97 as the fender lines are squared. Could you clarify this for me please?

so you have to the battery also and you'd need a one wire alternator or to buy an external regulator to run a nip alt. this would be a $600 project easily. your also using a ford alternator in the pic. witch mounts totally different then the alternator you listed. can you explain the benefits of this over just installing a 200 amp alternator you can buy for around $200.

could you also please show how you relocated the battery?
To take advantage of the power generation of two alternators, a second battery would be interesting...

Since you're running that on a '99, how are you regulating the second alternator? External or piggybacking from the ECU? (No idea if that's even possible)

Im out if town right now typing on my phone. If 175 is too much then you will have to shop elsewhere as it takes a few hours of millwork and that's not cheap. You will need a one wire alternator or external regulator. Tenney alts makes a 200amp one wire for 325 shipped. I intend on using their 300amp up top and the 200 in the factory location. The picture above is of a 97 iirc I thought my buddy had a 99 but I am completely new to jeeps sorry about the confusion. I was using his setup as a reference. Soon as I get back I will look under the hood of my 99 and see what is going on. Regardless we can manufacture a bracket for my year and ill look at my buddies renix and see what we can do.

the alternator in the picture is a ford large case 300 amp but we can make changes for other alts. And good Luck finding a quality 200amp with paperwork for 200bucks. If you know of a place please PM their contact info because I am In need of three alternators as we speak. I recommend tenney and mike singer alternators. Lifetime warranty on a HO alt is not easy to find usually.

my dad rebuilds and sells alternators for a dollar an amp most any case for high amps. and i build high amp charging systems and make custom brackets all the time for people and have a hard time making money on them due to them justifying all the additional cost your totally contradicting your first post with your last. all that power is useless if theirs nowhere to store it you'd have better luck relocating it next to the p/s pump as far as being useful. words of wisdom don't push a product you know nothing about your talking in circles

I honestly don't know a ton about alternators. However I see several threads on here asking about dual battery and dual atlernators. I need 500amps from my alternators so being a metal smith by trade and my buddy as well we manufactured a bracket. I thought I would offer it up if people were also in the need of one. I was not joking when I said I need three alternators right now. Please PM me some information on your prices and availabilty. I need a 200amp stock XJ alt, a 300amp prefer an ad244 case and a Nissan titan 300-350amp one wire.

OK first off I apologize for not knowing a ton about alternators or the location of the washer fluid bottle on any given year. I did manufacture 3 more brackets this week. You will need to relocate you battery to either where the Airbox is and run a snorkel or CAI, or if you have one where the washer fluid bottle is not inside the fender you can remove/relocate that and put the battery there. This bracket goes onto the AC compressor.... I will be leaving the bracket blank so you can mount just about any alternator that fits. You can grind a large portion of the material away and still have a very structurally sound bracket. It is made from 3/16'' mild steel and was heat treated and quenched. 150 per bracket shipped with a pulley and hardware. So for the price of a cheap battery you can add a 2nd alternator and not have the extra 60lbs to carry around.
this one was cut my hand, the 3 diamond plate were cut with the Mill and are much cleaner. This was the " prototype"
