Hey all so I have a question, i just tryed a stock front driveshaft as a replacement for the rear. I came up about a inch short. The drive shaft was out of a 92 xj no big deal so now I have a spare front. But need to now what options I have for a cheap (cheaper than custom made) rear drive shaft .
So I have a 242 with the re hack and tap done which has the flange sytlw output and have a 6.5 long arm lift installed going to a d44 will a zj shaft work and still give proper lenghts or is there any other options I have missed thanks all
And yes I have tried to Google the he'll out of this

Get it at ride height with full weight on the wheels,Measure it from center of the u joint yoke to yoke.Easy way to find center of the u joint is put a straight edge on the part that you bolt the u joint end caps on.Once you have that messurement taken and use on this list http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1118885 the drveshaft you have that is too short which xj was it from because they are different sizes depending engine trans and t case

Yup, exactly
Get a measurement at ride hight and look in the Junkyard.
I ended up with a front shaft out of a WJ Grand Cherokee because I have an AX-15 + 231 and the ZJ shafts were not long enough.
More than likely a ZJ shaft will work for you, but after pulling and measuring a few, they were all too short and no one mentioned that some WJ's came with double cardan front shafts as well (instead of the reppeza or whatever shafts)
Measured a few, pulled one and it was bent and finally the second one was good enough to use.
Make sure you check the shaft to see if it is bent! Most of the ones at my JY are because they use forklifts to move the cars

I had a 96-98 zj front shaft on the back of my xj. I have a 7.5" lift and the driveshaft worked perfectly, but only lasted 2 wheeling trips landed hard on a rock and bent it.
