I live in an apartment and have been putting somethings off for a bit as there's only so much I can get away with doing in my parking lot lol - Next weekend I plan to go to a buddies house and we are going to get some work done. My Jeep is a 95, I have a 3.5" lift on 31s - Nothing crazy.

Anyways, I need to pick up all the parts over the next week before we do the work and would like recommendations on which parts I should use.

Plan is to do all ball joints, ZJ Tie Rod, Hubs/Wheel Bearings, Axle U-Joints and I already have Rubicon Express Lower Control Arms that we are going to install as well.

Going to get as much as I can from the part stores so they have warranties etc - If you have part #'s even better. I did a search, but a lot of what comes up in searches is older posts with outdated part #s etc.

Also debating replacing the track bar while we're at but not sure yet.

 

As long as you go Spicer ball joints & Timken hubs you'll be golden. A digital angle finder, two straight edges drilled out for your lug pattern and a two measuring tapes will save you from posting another death wobble headache thread. There's so many guys throwing dog**** parts on their Jeeps all ***** nilly and then they wonder why they can't get the thing to drive straight.

 

Well junk parts or not I believe there's othere reasons why lifted jeeps drive like junk. Some comes back to this forum miss information, miss interpretation and some times plain lack of common sense.

 

Just starting to look into prices - Just Ball Joints alone if I do all 4 is about $300 for Moog. I'm looking at Advance Auto because I love their 20% off online orders but didn't realize just the ball joints would be that pricey. Any alternatives/kits/cheaper places to get them? I don't want junk parts, but if I'm doing all this at the same time it's going to sting the wallet a bit lol.

 

Moog used to be a good name that made good parts now I'm not sure if the parts are any good or the name
whatever bayou buy pull them out of the box if the stud is floppy don't buy that one.

Nevermind, think I found them.

 

Yesterday I found the Moog lower passenger side ball joint I put in probably 4 years ago is loose.
Ordered Spicer this time. Did Spicer(Dana) on my XJ and went in great and very solid. You can get the OE spicers around $65 for upper and lower on Rockauto or Ebay.

I wouldn't use Moog ball joints. I'm pretty sure all Moog ball joints are knurled and will trash your axle. Knurled ball joints are only applicable to axles with ball joint bores that have taken some damage.

 

Rockauto for everything except aftermarket of course. They’re fairly consistent in being half the price on most things from the part store. Really all the local parts store is good for anymore is if you need it right then, and even then they probably don’t have it.

i have all four within 5 miles of my house.. autozone, advance auto, o’reillys, and Napa. I don’t step foot in them except for oil change deals lol

 

Same here and they all suck. Actually the only time I go in any of them is to drop off old oil (pretty much all there good for). These days everything gets orderd online including all fluids

If you don't want junk parts then don't order Moog.

 

Good to know that moog sucks now, they used to be good in my experience. Thanks for the tidbits of advice, work has been kicking my *** so I'm not doing the work this weekend anyways, still haven't even had a chance to gather the parts lol
