Default Do I need to re-gear for 32's or 33's?

My XJ is a 96 auto tranny with a 5.5 long arm lift. I have the Chrysler 8.25 and a d30. Currently I have 30 x 9.5 tires and now that my lift is on I would like to go with a 32 or 33 x 12.5. Do I need to change my gears. I am gonna wheel my jeep but dont plan on getting to crazy (yet)

You can run it stock but your tranny will do a good bit of shifting due to the loss of power and fuel mileage will suffer a little bit as well.

Yes, you are going to want to re-gear to 4.56

if you have no trouble getting over all the obstacles you try then you probably dont need to drop $1300 on gearing
if you find you have a severe lack of power and a lot of frustration, consider it

gearing is pretty bad, but not to the point that i was to throw $800+ at new gears. it holds overdrive just fine climbing hills and such. i feel my fuel mileage suffers from the stock gears abit on the highway. works great offroad, put it in low range and im ready to rock. if i drove it everyday, i would strongly consider regearing it.

Mine was miserable to drive on the highway with stock gears and 33s. Could never run overdrive. It was fine offroad. Regeared to 4.88 on 35s and it is fun to drive again on the road.

Im 32's and geared to 4.56. I ran 31's on stock gear and didnt like it, so it was priority for me to gear before I went bigger.

I bought the $500 motive gear kit.

Use the gear calculator at www.grimmjeeper.com to see the difference between 2 different gear ratios.

The GF's 01 auto (3.55) is on JK 32's with 3.5" of lift, I dont feel like theres a need to regear her's. Its still kinda peppy and gets down the road easily. I have 33's with 3.55 but a manual and I would like to regear but the money can be used else where. I still DD it and can use 5th and wheel mine regularly. No speed demon like it was on 235's but it still moves
