Default Do I need adjustable track bar with 3" lift?

I'm getting ready to install the zone off road 3" lift on my Cherokee, I thought I heard someone say you have to drill a new hole in the track bar bracket, but I don't see any mention of it in the instructions at all. Do I need to do anything other than just bolt the track bar back up to its original location?

Do I really need an adjustable track bar with only a 3" lift?

I did a 3" lift last summer and I found out during the install that I had to drill a hole in the bracket to install the original track bar. Well, I wanted nothing to do with that so I found someone selling their adjustable track bar off another XJ site (it's way beefier than the stock one too). Installed without an hassles and I'm much happier with that than compromising the integrity of the bracket.

X2. I have the zone kit too. I drilled my bracket, but only temporarily. I need to decide which adj bar to get...or build my own.

No at 3", your track bar should be fine. Mine and many others have been. Do not drill a new hole for only a 3" lift. It would be too close to the existing hole. That only works for 4.5" lift.

Where do I find this relocation bracket? Are any of the adjustable ones better than others?

Default YES

I guarantee you that if your original trackbar does not go right back in after a 3" lift...you will have to move the axle to the drivers side to get it in. That means your tire will stick out more on the drivers side and will probably wear your tires out prematurely.

That means your trackbar is no longer long enough, so yes you do need an adj. trackbar, or lengthen the original one by taking out some of the bend, or getting a relocation bracket, or drilling another hole in the original bracket.

I was not aware of that. I always heard that I could be fine on 3" lift and stock trackbar

I never took mine off when installing, used spring compressors. Took for alignment and they said they only had to make minor adjustments for perfect alignment.

I wouldnt drill another hole its too close if your woried about it get an adjustable bar

I installed a new adj track bar with my 3" lift. Before it was on, my axle was off center by 3/4-1". It was a relatively cheap and easy fix over dealing with any possible problems that could have come up. But from what I read, it seems that every XJ is a little different.
