DIY battery cable question..
I want to make my own battery cables. I Have 2awg welding cable (fine strand) and all the fittings, marine grade terminals and a crimper along with adhesive heat shrink tubing.
For those that have done this, my question is. What did you use for the ground wire going from the battery to the fender? Did you use the existing wire, new wire the same size or did you use the cable size that you purchased? I haven't gotten into doing the cable swap yet and plan to get started this weekend. I was looking over the old factory setup last night and was just wondering what you folks have done. Thanks..
My starter is going out so I figured while I am installing a new starter, might as well do the cables at the same time!

Thanks I appreciate the reply. I was leaning towards doing the same as the 2awg wire but, I wasn't sure if it would be overkill. Thanks again..

if you scroll down, this list will help with the lengths and terminal requirements

FYI when it comes to the starter, you need to retain the part of the stock connector that holds the solenoid trigger wire - i cut mine with a utility knife.
MAKE SURE THE TRIGGER WIRE IS NOT CLOSE ENOUGH SO IT CAN ARC FROM THE POWER WIRE. Bend it away a bit - seriously - my truck cranked itself into the side of my house on one particularly damp morning

Thanks Dukie, greatly appreciated. I was going to use your idea of using string to get the length needed. I will definitely take note of the starter wires. I don't need any premature ignition!
Thanks again..
