Default Disappointed in JCR bumpers

Hi All,

Just wanted to start out by saying that I am contacting JCR in regards to this as well, but I wanted to check the forums to see if anyone has dealt with this before in regards to the JCR stuff, or maybe if I'm missing something obvious?

I went with JCR because of the overwhelmingly positive reputation that they had in both fit and finish and customer service, so I'm surprised that I'm having the issue that I'm having. That said, I don't know what else I could do from an "adjusting" standpoint. I've spent about 15 hours this past weekend tweaking and adjusting and this is the best that I can get it.

The issue with the front bumper is the passengers side. The bumper side slants down as it turns and heads down the passengers side towards the wheel well. The drivers side is straight, the front is straight. I can tilt the bumper forwards to level the passengers side out, but then the whole bumper tilts down, and the drivers side follows suit. I thought it may be the fenders on the jeep, but the level says otherwise.

The issue with the rear bumper is that the tire carrier, JCR, sits way too high to even latch shut. No amount of adjusting the bumper itself changes this since the pivot point and latch point are within the bumper itself. The only way to get it low enough to latch is to back the spindle nut almost all the way off so that the carrier sags down enough to latch... Basically it is unusable at this point.

Any idea's?

I'm going to see what JCR says as well, I'm told they have great customer service, so hoping they can help.

Disappointed at the moment considering the price.

I would just talk to jcr, they have amazing customer service...I have that same tire carrier, had it over a year, I had a problem with mine (one of the first ones of the new design) and they sent me a new bumper.

Not really related to you issues, but it bugs me how they don't weld the part keys on the tire carrier either. Long term that just provides another spot for rust to form.

If for SOME reason they replace your rear and you dont HAVE to send it back. I will GLADLY take it off your hands. JUST saying.

Don't forget no two XJ's are going to be the same. I don't have JCR, but have the exact same issue on both my front and rear bumpers as well, they list one way. Both are from AJ's.

It's a joke among us builders........there is no such thing as a 'yacht' level.

The bumper may be perfectly level but that is irrelevant to the rest of the Jeep.

It's pretty clear that the bumper is twisted.........I'd be pissed.

Only thing I can suggest for the carrier is try putting the spare on and see if it latches. Some companies put in a tiny bit of angle in the spindle to correct for sag from weight.

i love jcr and have their bumper on my xj, but this is clearly their fault.. not some misunderstanding with a bolt or two missing.

these days it takes a little social media backlash in order to get a point across. hopefully in the future they'll make sure a bumper isn't twisted when they ship it.

if that would have happened to me, i'd be pissed too. a week + of waiting for the shipping, painting (if he did it himself), installing and test-fitting, and on top of that all the time it takes to contact them and resolve the issue, and start over again once a new bumper arrives. that's a lot of time wasted

I like JCR too, for some things. The second they did away with customizable bumpers I lost most interest though. Shame really, I was literally a week away from ordering a front and rear from them when they said they're switching to a production/inventory based way of selling. So no longer making each bumper to order.

But I agree with above, give them a call first and see what they say.
