Default Diff case spreader questions dana 30 ??

I tried everything to get the carrier out of my dana 30 and that thing just isnt budging. Ive done a couple other locker installs in the past couple of years and have never had a problem getting a carrier out without a little tug, or a little prying with a pry bar.
My dads buddy owns a diff case spreader so I figured I would use that, does anyone know the max width I can spread it to without hurting the case itself?

Thanks
Greg

The spreader should only be needed for gettin' it back in.. I know I didn't need one at all, out OR in. If you do use one, i believe it only spreads a few 'thousandths' of an inch. I just tilted the bearings a little inwards toward the back, then tapped it in with a 2x4.

Well if anybody has any ideas on how to get this thing out without a spreader im all ears. It really seems to be wedged in there really good.

Run a folded rag between the teeth of the gears and turn the pinion.pinion. or wrap a strap around the back of the carrier and yank on it.

LOL ya I removed them. I tried the rag technique and it just tore up the rag, so I tried the strap technique and pulled and pulled couldn't budge it. Then I looked up at my winch and thought, hmm.... I wonder.
Pulled the sucked right out. I made sure it had a something soft to land on too.
Thanks for everyones opinions. Now to get the new locker in, a new axle shaft and it all put back together and try not to melt at the same time this weekend.

I've used the winch before, works pretty decent as long as you take your time and make sure you don't damage anything. Usually just needs a little help getting started, then comes out pretty easily.

No thanks. I had a full spool in my 04 TJ Rock Crawler and hated it because it was a PIA to drive on the street. Im trying to keep this cherokee as streetable as possible.
