did the autopal h4 headlight conversion
well I did it. it's still light out and dang there's is a big difference. can't wait for it to get dark.
what I had before:
putco harness, xtra vision sealed beams
what I have now:
putco harness, autopal ecode glass housings, silverstar h4 bulbs
I am very happy with the autopal ecodes. for $42 shipped to my door (with bulbs, unsure of quality because I went to the parts store and bought the silverstars first thing) it really seems like a quality product. I can tell the lights are physically brighter and the cutoff is a lot sharper with them. I have a Phillips head screwdriver on hand to make any necessary adjustments on my maiden voyage. they shine in about the same place on the garage door, but we will see.

mine take a Phillips. perhaps someone changed them?
yes, I see that now. I was skeptical of performance because of price, but I can honestly say they work very well. I had to adjust them up from where the sealed beams were.
initial impression: wow. the cutoff and pattern is impressive, especially for $25. the high beams are unbelievable. I wish I had gone this route from the getgo. I really don't know how the lights could be much better without blinding everyone in the opposing lane. I'm beyond happy with this investment, I will certainly suggest it to anyone wanting to upgrade headlights without breaking the bank. everything (the harness, housing, and silverstar bulbs) set me back about $90 total, tax included. not bad for a literal night and day difference over the stock setup.
I will update the thread if I have any problems with the autopals or bulbs, etc. even if I have to replace the housing every 5 years and bulbs yearly, I'd gladly do it to keep the lighting. the swap was very easy.
