i'm planning on doing a lift somewhere around 4-5 inches and i want to install an sye and cv driveshaft to go with it. my question is how do i know what length driveshaft to purchase if i havent installed the lift yet? i'm thinking about the RE hack n tap and cv driveshaft combo. my jeep is my daily driver and i rely on it for work as well so i would need to install the lift and sye/cv driveshaft at the same time.

For a 4-5" lift with SYE installed all you need to do is find a stock front driveshaft out of an XJ that had a 4.0 and auto tranny. This a perfect fit for your application and they are easy to find in good shape in the junkyards. Plus with this set up you only need to carry one trail spare with you.

okay so im guessing that i dont need a new front driveshaft after the lift? i like the idea of a single trail spare that will work for the front or the rear. great tip thanks!

I ran stock length driveshafts for 4 years with a 6" lift and TC drop kit...and had no vibes. I just recently installed a SYE and that was just so I could put the crossmember back up to the OEM spot and install a bomb proof belly skid plate.

I installed my Advance Adapters SYE with my TC right in my Jeep. I have heard from a few fellow XJ owners who did hack n taps, and you don't need to remove the TC to install it.

great so if i use a stock front driveshaft with a hack n tap i'm going to need to get a flange mount for the cv end to bolt on to the sye flange right?

Yes if the Hack n Tap actually comes with a flanged yoke you will need to somen kind of an adaptor. I thought they came with a standard yoke just like the one for the front DS.
