Default Determining lift amount

So my XJ has a story pre-dating my purchase of it in 2013 - long story short, previous owner install a 3.5" to 5" lift - not sure exact size or how to measure it. I've replaced my front shocks well enough with SkyJacker N8025, and I've done a far job of finding the right suspension parts until now.

It was at my mechanic's today for some work and I've been told I need a new sway bar link:

Not the greatest image - the mechanic took it.

I'm not even sure where to start looking aside from Quadratec : https://www.quadratec.com/products/56004_02.htm

Am I heading in the right direction? Any advice?

Here's how you measure to determine your lift amount. You'll want to do that before you purchase sway bar end links.

Another way is from the center of the wheels to the bottom edge of the factory fender flare. At stock height the front is 17.5" and the rear is 17" IIRC.

Assuming the flares haven't been moved up on the fender. Very noticeable, but still a consideration.

This.

I like to go with the frame to axle tube method because it's the most accurate. Fender could be bent, flare could be moved/removed, or the flare mount could be messed up throwing off the measurement.
