X 2 My 4.5" starter lift turned into a 6" lift with a quickness!!! 32s gave way to 33s...which will give way to 35s as soon as they wear out. Once you're bitten by the bug, the disease travels fast through your blood...LOL!!

well many people with a 1996 and newer are not so lucky as to not need a SYE... the reason is that the output shaft on the tcase is like 8-10" long (1995 and older is MUCH shorter) as a result it has a lot of unsupported output shaft and a shorter shaft (iirc)
a dana 35 might not need a SYE because they have a short pinion... so the drive shaft is pretty long and that helps to keep the angles down
I have a 1996 with a c 8.25 in the rear and I needed a t case drop at only 3" of lift... I upgraded to a SYE shortly afterwards... but I never tried to run it with just a tcase drop on the 4.5" setup I have now... but the truth is you will never know until you try

Not in the rear.
Oh snap. Just noticed you've got a 2000. My buddie with an 01 limited, user name 01limited, rubs when flexing because he has the stupid new trim setup.
Your flares and mine aren't the same. That may make the difference...

Honestly I have the RC 3" lift and I wish I would have got the 4.5" or bigger. Eventually I wanna get the 6.5 long arm lift. And my xj is my daily driver.

4.5 is perfectly fine with a tc drop. my 96 has a tc drop and a 6.5" thats old and sagged to about 5.5 and it doesn't really have any vibes. On the other hand, my budd has a 00 with 5.5" RE and t case drop and he needed an sye in a bad way. So I conclude the newer xj's are more prone to vibes but a t case drop on a 4.5 is perfectly fine.
