Default Deathwobble almost killed me...help?

Ok, so I bought a 5 speed and drove it with no wobbles. I swapped the front axle and lifted it an extra 2.5". Bam, deathwobble. I was on the highway and I was surprised it didn't rip the front end off. I have experienced deathwobble many a times but not this bad. The trackbar was loose so I welded on a 1/8 plate on the lower mount, and tightened both fasteners down. I still have deathwobble. I have not done an alignment yet no $$ so i will try doing it myself.

Also, when going forward (both coasting and accelerating) my front tires chirp. I think my toe may be waaaaay off and the tires are working against each other. I'm at 6" of lift, got procomp LCAs.

Also, will having one of the UCA's disco'ed create deathwobble. On my previous XJ i ran a "3 link" and it was fine.

Thanks and feel free to call me out on any stupidities, mainly the 3 link lol

If you didn't do an alignment after the lift that could cause it to ride really bad, at least do one yourself, I haven't done one my self yet but I think with a tape measure it shouldn't be hard.

Dumb***!

The only stupid thing here was adding that 2.5" of lift without an alignment.
You'd think if the tires were chirping in a straight line would tell you something.

The 3-link. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a 3-link. YOUR 3 link, on the other hand, consists of (1) 10mm bolt holding the entire axle in place. ya might want to put the other link back on until you can afford a real 3 link long arm suspension. (Which you need to have at 6" anyways)

Get the alignment close with a tape measure, reconnect that link, drive it and let us know how it does.

Bad DW is some scary **** at speeds.

Going to attempt the alignment, at least the toe. The tires started chirping in a straight line after the first deathwobble instance (the one that ran me off the road).

Ok, well i reinstalled the other UCA, gosh I hate those bolts with the tabs that hold on the arm to the axle. What ever happened to regular bolts....

The tie rod is bent. My toe is like 1.5" closer up front. I guess its time for a zj tie rod. Has to be a v8 correct?

JC Whitney sells rods for setting up toe-in. Due to tire imperfections, not perfect, but can work good enough.

I just use a curtain rod to set my toe, measure off the rims instead of the tires though.

yea 1.5 inches is crazy. I just adjusted mine today and I can get it within 1/4in easy. I got my zj teie tod with a good joint on it from the JY for 20 bucks so yeah, then get new TRE's for ~$15

hes using a curtain rod to check distance between the tires if its the same
