Death wobble =o
Ok y'all first let me give you a description of my 99 XJ. I bought it with the lift already installed, it's got a 3" rough country suspension kit & 3" body lift with 33s. Problem is when I hit a bump in the road or even worse, a roller like defect in the road, it sends my Jeep into a crazy death wobble & I hear what sounds like the bell housing of the transmission knocking on the bottom of my Jeep. It's gotten progressively worse with every bump. First question, what can I do to fix this? It's got a dropped Pitman arm & I head that's bad. Also the joint where the lower control arm attaches to the axle appears to be hacked up.
Second question, what do you guys think is knocking around when I get the death wobble? I checked the tranny mount and thats fine.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

First, you don't have a body lift.
Second, anything suspension related in the front end could cause it. Check all bushings, ball joints, etc.
And run a search here for "death wobble"

Take out the body lift and see if that helps sorry.
anyway, can be caused by many many many many many many many things. mostly things that have been talked about on here before.
do some searching and lots of reading, then lots of checking of front end components.
Then go punch the guy in the eye that told you it had a body lift when you bought it.

I did search before I posted and I did find a ton of possible problems but I was just trying to narrow it down a bit. And sorry but I always knew the blocks above the springs as a body lift

Is the transfer case cross member secure? is the mount busted??? sounds like more than one problem..."death wobble" over washboard bumps sometimes will indicate a wasted steering dampener. if thats the issue i suggest a heavyduty one
Oh yeah, 99xj can't have body lift...frame and body are one unit

A steering dampener is not the fix nor the problem. If everything is good no dampener at all is needed. Also its not just 99 xjs with the unibody. What blocks above the axle are you talking about that could possibly be a body lift? Im lost

Search user name (rweaver138) and keyword ( diagnose your deathwobble). Read it. All. Any number of these could be the problem. Sorry but im on my phone and can't get it to load links.
