Default Death Wobble Ground Zero

So I have DW on my 99 XJ with a 2" lift. I took A video today to try to determine where it was happening at. The video appears to show the drag link shaking before anything else. Is it possible to drag link is the point of least resistance and so the joint from the drag to the pitman needing replacement first?

The video will tell us nothing. You need to start noggin poking and wiggling parts until you find what's loose. Start with it all in the ground then if you can't find the problem jack up the front and keep wiggling until you find the problem.

What he said. Jack it up so that both wheels are off the ground. Then wiggle all the steering and find the part that's loose. Also remove the bolt on the arm side of the steering stabilizer and make sure its not bad. If you find everything is tight, you may want to get the alignment checked to make sure the caster is within spec.

Two things cause DW. Loose steering components and too little positive caster.

Screw the stabilizer its pointless with proper geometry

I know you just joking but when people seriously argue with me about needing a stabilizer I just loose it.

Same with me. That's the textbook answer for all the Facebook groups I'm on when people can't figure out their DW issues.
I've seen plenty of rigs run without them, trail rigs and DDs. No issues because the steering and components are done right.

I see that all the time on facebook... hence why I didnt even mention it. I do have a new one to put on, but that is just because I want one on. Annnd isnt everything about more company decals for the rear window

So I took off the tie rod and finishing removing everything else tomorrow and friday. Im going to examine everything and replace what looks shot. Hopefully I can get everything replaced and do a highway check in a couple weeks. (we are buying a house so I need to get it road worthy... at least limping it to the new location till the house is finished). I dont need a tie rod to drive it right??

Check the tie rod ends, ball joints, Trackbar, control arms and mounts. Death wobble cannot be fixed via the interwebs. You have to do some experimenting on your own. Do what they said early and Jack up the front end and start shaking things. Replace anything that feels bad and try it. It that doesn't work, repeat until it goes away.

I would feel for anything loose as stated, but if everything is tight before I started replacing things I would take it and get an alignment check. If everything is tight, you need to make sure you have enough caster. Not enough caster will make the tightest steering have DW.
