Default Daytime running light disable

Im trying to disable the DRL on my wife's 98 xj and it has me stumped.
It does not have a DRL module and has the factory plug still in the harness.

Im getting 6 volts at the low beam side of the lights whenever the key is in the run position. I have tried 2 different styles of led lights thinking the change in resistance would effect it but no change. I have not tried stock style halogen.

It had an alarm on it when I got it but have since removed it with no change. I traced the wires from the switch as far as I could and saw nothing of concern.

Any thoughts from anyone?

This is a common issue with LED lights, Its not really DRL its just a system designed for halogen bulbs. Either get a h4 relay harness for the headlights or I've heard you can pull the headlight delay box and it will stop the issue as well. I just installed LED headlights this weekend and have the same "issue". I've order a harness but I do want to try pulling the delay module to see if that works its just been in the 20's here and I've not felt like digging around under the dash.

Thanks for the info! Just to confirm, is the delay module under the steering column with a triangle shaped connector?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of post facelift info out there on it so I'm not sure. I did mange to find something from Alldata for a 97.
