what is your opinion? if you have done this do you have to remove the dash? ive heard LEDs do not like dimmer circuits and such....is it just a waste of money? or worth while for the sweet look?

Yes u have to remove the dash to access four screws that hold the gauge cluster on. Not that hard to do. The LEDs that I have works well with the dimmer

If you have a 97-01, removing the dash is extremely easy. Just 4 screws and you can pop it off.

I like this idea. I'm going to look into this for my 96.

If I'm not mistaken there are a lot oh hidden screws on the non 97-91 models, I've never personally done one though so don't quote me.

Something to research

Here's mine, 2001 Sport:

Cool White. Just ignore the one that's out behind the temp sensor and the load problem from my indicator LED swap. They'll get fixed eventually.

97-01 wedge base 74's fit the oem twist lock bases for the cluster. You can use 74's for the hvac and the switches as well, just need to swap bases. 74's cheaper than neo wedges.

What do you swap bases with (for the HVAC and Defrost/Wiper/Fog switches)? Do you mean actual light socket, or the base of the LED?

I too am a cheapie and would prefer to just buy a bunch of 74 LED's from china.

EDIT:
Wedge base, like these?
