Will a rear Dana 44 rear axle from a 1993 v8 zj with disc brakes, work with my 1986 xj pioneer? Any tips for easier installation are much appreciated .

Don't do it.

Covered here many times.

Short version;
It's a d44a....virtually zero aftermarket support.

I currently have both front and rear Dana 44 axles out of a k5 chevy blazer. However, I'm stumped as how to mount them to the jeep suspension. I already own these axles, but I would gladly sell them for an easier option.

93 ZJ wasn't offered with the 44a or rear disc only a 35 with drums even with the v8. Those weren't available till mid 95-96 and has almost no aftermarket support and is considered almost as bad as the 35.

^ agreed! For easy install get a XJ 97+ 8.25. cheap/easy to find, and bolts right in (with u-bolts for 8.25) could also find one with matching gearing to the front, if your not regearing.

There are no front axle upgrades that go easily onto the front of the XJ, except a built D30. If you really want to go bigger, the Wagoneer front D44 is probably easiest, but only because they are about the right width. They still have incompatible suspension so all mounting has to be made.

There is a lot to consider when upgrading axles. Are you having issues with your current set up?

for ease and lots of strength, just do a super 30 kit with the larger u-joints.

the 95+ cherokee d30 has the larger u-joints, so they are already the same size as d44 u-joints, so going with the 30 spline super30 shafts are easily d44 comparable. the only difference is tube size and ring/pinion size. but it's not often you hear of a ring gear busting up.

then just get yourself an 8.25 or xj44 rear, throw in a lock-rite and be done with it.
i run 36 inch tires with a locked xj44 with no issues.

The dana 44A meaning aluminum housing is known to be equal to a dana 35 in strength and i agree with above a 95 and up dana 30 larger u joints 1 piece axle and a 97 and up 8.25 its a 29 spline axle
