Can this be done? If so can someone point me in the right direction for a thread? I've used the search Threads and cant find anything. Thanks

The whole reason I ask is I bought a 2001 XJ 3 years ago and had the wheel bearing go bad and break the outer shaft which then broke the tabs for the calipers off the knuckle or some combo of things breaking. I wasn't driving so I couldn't tell you how it felt or what actually happened. I went and pulled off a knuckle from a 2001 sport today got it home and they are not the same. Here are some pictures of the broken parts and numbers from them. the break calipers have AMC stamped on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The bottom of the knuckle is threaded and has this insert in them.

If you are talking real D44, no. The ball joints are a different style and much beefier. Rubicon D44, maybe. They are based on the D30

Yea I meant the Rubicon D44.

I really just need to figure out what these knuckles came off of, the part number on the calipers point towards a 84-89 XJ.

I've searched for the knuckles but don't see anything like them

If i broke a knuckle it would be the perfect time for a wj swap. Wait i did break a knuckle andcswap to wj knuckles.

One the best things ive done on my rig.

WJ front brakes and ZJ rear make the XJ brake like a modern car. Going back to a stock XJ is eye opening as I forgot how bad the pedal is.

The only complication to the swap is welding the spacer to the cast upright. Despite what everyone says online, you can do the swap without expensive crossover steering conversions.

Actually i found the brakes to bd ho humm but the freaking much better drag link angle and track bar have transformed my jeep into hero. And the brakes still suck. But thats okay cause it drives and steers so freaking well.

I run disc rear and wj front all done in steps. Rear first not even surevit brakes any better than drums

Front might be alittle better but nothing to talk about.

But the damn thing drives and steers better than my cummins pickup that also has pretty new steering

I agree no fancy steering is required but on a jeep with over 3" of lift its very much needed. Not doing it specifically if jeep is over 4" of lift is jeep guys or gals cheeping out cutting corners and for the most part putting together a **** jeep.

Ill cut corners damn every where but on good geometry seems everyone cuts corners on geometry and puts the money into bling.
