When I bought the Jeep I was told that it had a bad rear diff. (Don稚 know any more details) the guy said it had a good motor and a bad rear diff. So I thought if I知 gonna replace it with something I値l upgrade! Right? So I bought this 8.25 out of a 95 xj. And now that I知 getting to the swap I知 thinking this looks more like a Dana 44


the one in the truck bed is supposed to be the 8.25 the one under the Jeep is what I知 replacing or maybe not replacing.

That is a Dana 44. Even with bad parts probably worth more than that 8.25 which is not quite as strong even if it is a 29 spline

 

I知 gonna.keep the 44 and sell the Chrysler I only got it for 120

 

I think I would take a look at what is wrong with it. Minimum price on those start at $400 and there is lots of stuff you can get for them and lots of mods if you are in the market for that too

Also be aware that the gear ratio is probably 3.73 and not 3.07 or 3.45. The D44 was part of the towing package and had a slightly lower ratio. Check the tags on the diff cover to be sure.
