You could run 35s on stock axles and with a D60 rear with 35s catches on every rock and log you'll come across and 33s will be worse. That being said how hard it is will depend on your fab skills. A lot of welding is involved. Easiest way is to get a premade truss with the mounts already on it. Plan on anywhere from 200-600 for the axles, another 200-400 for truss and mounts, drive shaft modifications. New wheels and tires, 15s can be made to fit but it's easier and cheaper to get 16s or 17s. It's not a cheap or fast process.

I wish I was simple .!....!.

I mean if you wanna make an xj into a mudder, be my guest. but I think it's a lot better to stack a frame on top of a frame and weld it to a frame

I would build up your stock axles maybe do the explorer 8.8 swap.If i had to run full width axles it would be a dana 44 and a 14 bolt shaved.

I can't imagine running a stock cover on the rocks.

No issues on the rocks here, if i get hung up, Just back up a foot and hit it with momentum. problem solved. If you play in rocks big enough everything will hit. My 60 ended up shaved so much from rocks it was closer to dana44 clearance by the time I sold it. Never bothered me though.

huh? lets think out our insults before we type them out. makes for better bickering. like my man? what the hell does that even mean? is it a boyfriend joke or are you talking about my father? and what does that have to do with mudding?... not quite getting it Custom sorry

Let me be clear (ha obama reference. hate that f*cker) but i am not sayin all i do i run the thing into puddles im just saying I dont enjoy doing just one thing. like just being a crawler or just being a mudder.

the best xjs (or offroad vehicles in general) are the ones who are pretty good at alot of things. just makes them more usefull... more accurate when calling them offroad vehicles.

not sure if I've seen a rock rig that cant handle some mud or trenches or a little desert or whatever comes up in front of it. mud and trail rides get boring quick. rocks keep things entertaining
