So I just installed my spartan locker in my D30 on my 97 XJ. as soon as I drove off to test drive, I had SEVERE steering issues!!! My steering was being thrown from side to side and it was like I had no power steering. I HAVE ZERO ISSUES with my steering components. this only started AFTER I installed the spartan locker. HELP!!!

The tolerance=the gap between the 2 halves of the locker, if the gap is to big or to small it can cause the locker to misbehave.Originally Posted by jeepersanch

Gotcha. I honestly did not measure the tolerance. Are you familiar with what the tolerance range should be?Originally Posted by ohio95xj

gotcha. well what would change the tolerance? the only thing I could think would be the springs.Originally Posted by ohio95xj
I'm not sure about the spartan honestly, but the aussie is .145-.170

When you installed it did u pull the thrust washer out or leave them? Go pick up a mic, pop the cover and get a good measurement between the two. Then in the book it came with should be a spec page with the range.Originally Posted by jeepersanch

I removed the thrust washers as per the instructions. I did not get any of the paperwork with it because I bought it secondhand. from a guy in denver who said he only put like 3000 miles on it max.Originally Posted by weeder

I'm thinking that because I did remove the thrust washers, this might be the problem.Originally Posted by weeder
