Hey guys, I'm sure there is already a thread on this but I can't seem to find it. I have a 1999 xj sport. It has a 4.5 in lift on 33's. I am looking to get a new front axle kit, im not sure if it's a 27 spline or 30 splines though. if any of you know by chance I would appreciate the help.

All factory Jeep Dana 30s are 27 spline. 30 spline axle are aftermarket.

I beleave you have a low pinon front end a xj a little older will have a high pinon front end witch is stronger to start with and then you can put a stronger axle and a locker in it .

99s had the high pinion Dana 30, and even if it was a low pinion it would be fine with 33s.

Awesome thank you! I'll be throwing in an Aussie locker once I find the axle kit I want. Slowly building trying to learn in the process.

I bought a Dana Spicer brand bearing kit for my D30 over a year ago.
This week the axle got so bad I had my mechanic install the kit. So
far so good, much smoother and quieter than before.

The kit cost about $90 from Rockauto and came with TIMKEN pinion
bearings, ILJIN side bearings, a pinion seal, and a complete set of
shims for the sides and pinion. Ring gear bolts were not included but
I got those from a Jeep dealer.

Meh, the strength difference between low and high pinion isn't noticable. Shafts will go before the ring gear does.
