Dana 30
Dana 30 front axle, is it a stronger set up to leave it unlocked and buy chrome molys. Or should I go lunch box and chrome molys, I’ve welded my rear, but sometimes it would be nice to have both front tires pulling. I really don’t wanna go ox or arb and spend that much on a Dana 30, and I know everyone is gonna say ditch the 30 and go 44. But there not the easiest thing to come by around here. I’d love to buy axle tubes and truss it and just stick with what I’ve got and build it up piece by piece. Ive got 35 on it with spyder lock beadlocks and haven’t broke anything yet considering all the weight or had knuckle problems.Any thoughts thanks

Id rather break an axle shaft and have the traction of my lunch box locker than puke out spider gears of an open diff and kill the gears.

Go with the lunch box locker and chromoly axles, good setup with 35s. But don't go any larger in tire size, 35 is the upper limit for the dana 30. I've been running that setup for two years now with no problems. Well, that's not entirely true. Because of the excessive weight of the 35s I've had to replace hub bearings, steering damper, drag link assembly and the steering gear.

i ran a lock right and chromos and 35s on my old 35s. it was also trussed. it lasted for a few years before i stripped a 4.10 ring gear. that led me to upgrade axles.
