I have an xj d44 all cleaned up, I'm regearing it to 4.56s and going to 35s this summer. My question is, will the internals (ie. Springs, shoes) from the d35 fit onto my d44? I know I can't swap over the actual drum, but nobody's really specified about the internals.

I personally haven't tried but it's doubtful. Find a ZJ with the 44a and get the disc off it, they will bolt up.
I know mine is, but a pre 91 is a non c clip. I'll just run to the junkyard and get the guts out of an 87 or 88 they have.

The easy way to tell is the axle tubes bulge right before the backing plate on NON C clip axles. 87/88 is a pretty safe bet.. as long as no one has changed axles out
Just like on a 44? thanks for the info y'all, id rather have disc brakes, but don't wanna go through the hassle and expense. I have a pretty tight budget lol

dana 35 takes a 10x1 3/4 drum dana 44 takes 10x 2 1/2 drum dont think parts are gonnas swap
I know the TJ guys can swap it. They cam swap everything over from a 35 onto their 44s.
I'll be the guinea pig and figure it out in a week or 2

dont see how narrower drums will work in place of wider one and be correct?
I'm not going to swap the actual drum, my d44 came with the backing plate just no brakes. I'll get a 10x2.5 drum and swap the non c clip internals onto the backing plate.
