He wants to install an exhaust cut out. Usually install them before the muffler so you can run open pipe and then with a flip of a switch be back to muffled...just google it "exhaust cut out" pictures of them, how they work, where to buy em ( jegs, summits)

If you're running a cut out, you usually run it pre cat as well and only switch it on the track...
If you're not racing, a cut out is retarded.

True...I'm not a fan unless it's on a v8 car or truck to where it actually sounds good. But a cut out on a 4 or 6 cyl. I gotta agree. Dumb. But to each his own

I ran my jeep for a week with no cat or muffler while I wanted to get into an exhaust shop after I got into a fight with the exhaust pipe. It did sound obnoxious and was very loud (got pulled over). I have a 7.3 diesel that is straight piped and the jeep was louder than the truck!

And just to throw it out there, a pre-cat exhaust cut out violates federal law (which supersedes state law for all who want to argue that). So I'd advise not doing that.

Yes, State cannot overrule federal regulations. EX: Federal law states 92db is the loudest a street exhaust can be. The state can't say anything over 92 is acceptable but may set a limit below that.

offroad or not it doesnt matter, if it came with coverter then federal law says you have to run it. ORV parks are no exceptions

if the vehicle came with a coverter whether or not it is Just and offroad vehicle it still must run it, you cannot de-certify a vehicle like that.

Cutout must go after cat

Cutout must go after cat
They don't enforce that on any track down here unless the vehicle is registered. Ive run a few boggs. But my question to the OP, Why do you want the cutout before? Cats don't rob ANY power from your motor unless they are plugged or damaged. At that point, just replace with a high flow.
