Default Cut and fold quarters. Exposed gas tube question

I just did the cut and fold. Came out great btw. But on the drive side to fold the inner fender in, you have to remove the gas take filler tube shield(whatever you wanna call it) it's just held in by 3 self tapping screws. Do y'all just trash the shield and leavening the filler tube unprotected or what? I don't see any issues with it, I'm just want to make sure it's not gonn hurt anything.

It will leave the hoses exposed. This may never cause an issue, but you never know.

I left the shield on. Just bend the edges flat and put some screws in it or rivets.

I don't think it will cause a fuel leak on the trail, but hypothetically speaking, it could get cut or broke while wheeling, then go to fill up and all the fuel spilling on the ground. Lol I could see that possibly happening. But probly never has happens to anyone. Those are just my concerns, and basically just wanted to make sure that's what y'all are doing to. Just leaving the, exposed

I also "massaged" it with a hammer until it fit. And then riveted it with a few rivets. Looks like it belongs there 100%. Dont leave it exposed.

Alright. I don't think it will be a problem to get it to refit...I never noticed in anyone's cut and fold pics this shield thing before so when I got to that side to cut Nd fold I went to fold up the inner fender and was like "what the crap is this thing" lol but alrighty. Thank y'all. Looks like I got something to do tomorrow. Remount the filler tube shield, and lots of unde coating
