hey guys, i have a 99 xj that i bought with a 4.5 RC lift. it handles well, but i want to step my game up a bit. would it be better to swap out the lift i have now with a different lift that is taller maybe like a 6.5" or should i keep my 4.5" and just ad a long arm kit upgrade? either way im going to do the long arm. my parents are building their rubicon right now and putting a top end off road evo kit and i want to be able to keep up with them.
any sugestions help

if its a DD i personally would just long arm it at 4.5 with rc's long arm upgrade kit and then maybe add another inch by coil spacing.
but 6.5 on road is kinnda high imo. but others will say different im sure.
if safety and daily driving on the streets is no concern then **** it go 6.5 or 8.5 but you probly wanna upgrade axles steering and everything else if your gonna go that high.
and then your talking like 4-6k in upgrades lol

a long arm 4.5 can tuck 35s no problem with proper bumpstops
and as long as you gear it low ( 4.56 or 4.88 with 35s ) and lock it
you should have no prob keepin up with you parents

why taller? if you want to keep up with them buy lockers because your suspension is fine. but I guess if long arms is where its at then pick some up and slap them on there with stainless lines and longer shocks

bigger tires will get you more clearance
long arms with get you more flex.

keep in mind with the more flex youll need extended brake lines and shocks as atmos mentioned.

I run a 4.5" short arm on some fairly decent sized rocks. I have yet to have an issue with clearance. I don't even have sliders for the time being. you can gain some uptavel by being taller but it's not really necessary. just stay at 4.5" and run proper length shocks and brake lines. but really though you'll get more use out of lockers. I make it over obstacles much easier than the long arm guys

yes new shocks will be necessary
no new coils will not be.

which RC kit do you have? full leafs with track bar? if you have the incomplete kit I'd toss it out and buy a complete long arm kit

x2 youll need the trackbar forsure with a la kit.
and the aal kits are trash usually imo.

bummer. well you'll have to buy a track bar no matter what. then with long arms, shocks, and brake lines you're over $1000 and you still dont have full leaf packs. I'd toss the kit and buy a long arm suspension kit

Buy new full packs if you dont have em. Buy a double sheer trac bar. Then buy a quality long arm setup. Serious offroad, clayton, rock krawler, or Rubicon express all make good kits
