Question Could the inner C lower gussets created neg camber??

-Well ive been tryin to figure out whats caused my neg camber issues that wore out the tires in the inside fast on my newly built HP-d30. Everythings been checked & no parts are bad, BUT it just dawned on me that the shop welded in lower C gussets & maybe those welds warped the lower C's pulling them outwards/upwards & tilting my tires in enough to wear them unevenly.

Heres a pic of them on the site:

Heres the lower gussets welded in:

The upper gussets were never installed cauz they didnt fit so my theory is that when welding these in, it changed the camber enough to wear out my tires on the inside. If u guys think this holds water then please say so so that i can figure out how to correct this ongoing issue!!!

Question

Few more factors now remain, whats to happen when the upper C gussets are welded in, & 2nd, can i solve this problem without having to buy adj ball joints??

I think your suspicions are spot on. I'm constantly surprised by how far pieces draw during/after welding, but you should be able to measure this. Figure out what the factory specs are and check it.

btw, I love those gussets, I've only seen the ones that go on the inside. Who makes those and why didn't the tops fit?

That setup is pretty rigid now so I bet you'll have a hard time getting them to draw back... The ball joints might be your only options.

-The ones i ordered landed up being for a JK d30 which has different bracketry. The bottoms were modified to fit while the tops are too tight to even modify. I'll make my own for the top once this camber issue is fixed.

-Anyone know what the measurements are for the inner knuckles so i have somethin to go by???? Or maybe u can go measure ur d30 & let me know????

Definitely could be warp. Shop probably didn't weld in small enough strings or heat and cool the metal. Gotta do one or the other for cast, probably warped though would be my guess

Question

If this is the case, then heres a question i need help with: how do i approach the shop with this issue, get them to fix the situation, & replace the 2 front tires without me spendin a dime?? If indeed they warped the inner C's then the shops at fault, am i correct with this???

Can anyone please take a measurement between the inner C on there HP-d30 please???

Can't tell you how to approach the shop. If you supplied the gussets then they probably won't do anytthing about it. If it's a front end alignment shop then they would know better and just ask. Being a welder, I can tell you it would definetly draw it in, and welding the top/bottom next is not going to off set the bottom/top draw.

I don't think that's the part that is warped, you would have hub fitment issues if that were the case. Seems more likely that the entire c pulled either up or down (I think up?) to cause inner wear

Question

-Altho i did find a 1/4 inch difference in my sway bar links (quick disco's) which can be easily adjusted, & a 1/4 inch difference in my LCA's. I'll get that fixed this weekend when i have access to an air gun & ill measure the UCA's as well.
-Has anyone run the adj ball joints with good results?? Are they weaker by design then reg ball joints??
