The progressive springs aren't that much more. I am looking at the PAC or something and they are $200 shipped for the pair.

Do you drive fast off road, race others and hit whoops and small jumps = progressive
At normal offroad speeds and crawling over obstacles the progressive springs will have less articulation than a linear or dual rate.
Not brand but duty and intended purpose.
OME has 3 different leaf spring versions, light duty, medium and heavy. I would not run their HD leafs with Skyjacker soft-ride coils for instance. And of course it depends on how the jeep is loaded/built also.

Well damn I guess I can just run the RE3.5 springs then and hope I only get around 4" out of them. I dont know of any other 4" springs out there for a decent price without using spacers or ACOS

I thought Currie had 4" springs, but listed as 3.5"

Also, I have read that you can double up the stock coil spring isolater for another 5/8" of lift.

RE 4.5" springs will ride better than the 3.5" because of the lesser spring rate

You are correct. When I was looking at them over a year ago I believe they offered more linear rate springs.
PAC does offer a 4" with 165 pound rating. This would be a good choice if you are not running a winch and bumper. What they do not state is whet rate the springs ramp up to.
Stock coil spring rating is 147.

Rusty's 4.5" coils have a 150 lb rate and are $129:

Great video. However the progressive coils I use do not 'stack up' like in the video where coils collapse onto one another and become a block or spacer. That is what a dual-rate springs do.
And now we have a new term to deal with, 'variable rate'. lol
