Default Coil Spacer Questions

I was thinking about adding coil spacers and new shackles to my xj on top of my RE 3,5" super ride kit. I want the spacers to level it out and my oem shackles are rusted pretty bad and flaking so I was just going to address the issue at the same time. I was going to go with 3" spacers and 2" shackles to give me more height while leveling out more. My question if I go this route is would My shocks I have now handle this much lift? And I know I'll need brake line extensions for the front but would I need a longer rear extension than the one that came from RE? And how do xjs ride with coil spacers? Anyone running this or a similar setup who can chime in would be appreciated!

You'll probably need new shocks and brake lines. I don't imagine a 3" kit has the goods for a 5" kit.

Unless you keep the short arms where they are located its gonna ride the same. If you don't address control arm length or mount, it'll ride like crap. Drop brackets, adj arms, or long arms would be best.

Don't forget adjustable trac bar, and a SYE of sorts may be needed.

THIS^^ You can get away with just relocating your brake lines, I ended up reloating my front and used a dodge dakota rear line. You will need new shocks...unless you never go offroad.

thanks for the input. looks to be a more pricey move for now than i anticipated. looks like ill just piece it together and then do it all at once. do the drop brackets for control arms have to be welded? and can i just move my track bar over or do i need a longer one? i was planning on doing longer brake lines anyway for the front. when i did my current lift i just straightened them out but theyre at the max. and i have a t-case drop already that i never used because i never got any vibration in 4 wheel drive.

Drop brackets are bolt in.

You will need a longer trac bar.

Tcase drop may not be enough. But a HnT for your year is real cheap since you do not need the seal flange.

You don't need a new tail housing. Yours is new enough, as I stated in my post.

And if it were me, I'd leave the JY tcase whole. I would hate to be the guy who robbed it and left it incomplete for the next guy who may need it.

look at everything that comes in a 6.5" lift kit. Get everything in that kit that you don't already have. you will need an sye and upgraded steering capable of taller heights on top of all that as well.

Sam suggested looking at a 6.5" kit because it would come with everything needed. Compare the goods already on the truck with the 6.5" kit and you'll see the extra parts needed.

OP wants about 5.5"

3" + 3.5"=6.5"

and we all know the leafs on a re 3.5" when new will sit a bit taller back there.

Good God. Can I not read today? Wth?

I seriously saw 2" spacers...or at least my head told me I saw it.

Wow, my bad. I can add, I promise. Must be the new homeowner stress or something. Wow.
