My jeep just started doing this..it makes a clunking spun when I **** into reverse. And only in reverse. It also flunks when I brake but only in reverse. I'm thinking it could be my arm bushings or front drive shaft u joints. Let me know if any of you have had similar symptoms or know of a fix or what's the problem.
I'm at 4.5 inches of lift and fixed mid arms
THANKS FOR ANY HELP

If you drive forward and then in to revers you get this clunking because all parts between the axle and the engine --> transmission--> transfare case--> driveshaft--> diff have a little play or space due to the usage over the years and they add up. Each have 1-2 mm and due to the number of parts you will get at the end 1/10 turn of the diff.

If you shif in revers and then in nutral and again in revers it will not happen. Nothing to worry about.

About the brakes, I have the same, but do not know why. I have as well 4,5" lift and will investigate in the next days.

Packing the slip yoke on the rear ds usually takes alot of the noise out.

edit: I mean pack the slip yoke with grease, this is a pretty common problem

I would take a look at your transmission mount.

thanks guys..a while back i replaced the motor and trany mount..so i finally had time off work today, and looked it over..got to lay under the jeep while my friend drove it in reverse..well not really drove just stepped on the brake..but i found my main problem..one of my driver side lower arm bolts was pretty darn loose..so tightened that up and it pretty much got rid of it..should of done that from the begining..
once again, thanks for your help guys..
