Default clunking noise

I have a 97 xj with a skyjacker rockready 8" lift and tom woods front and rear drive shafts with the sye kit. My ? Is I was driving yesterday and it felt like something caught in the front end. I checked the u joints and they don't feel like they are loose on the front axles. There is 1 slightly loose on the driveshaft but I don't think loose enough to cause what I heard. I was wondering of anyone else had this problem and what could cause it. It's got a d30 front with 4.56 gears no locker in the front just a Detroit locker in the Chrysler 8.25 rear. Any help would be greatly appreciated

You aren't very descriptive with your issue.

Check everything up front, there are plenty of things that could be causing problems.

I'm almost at a lose. I have an adjustable track bar and heavy duty tie rod and drag link. I know both upper and lower control arms have heim joints but they are tight. It's very confusing.

what do you mean by "something caught."

as previously mentioned be a little more descriptive so we can try to help you out. i would start by checking EVERY bolt in the front end is tight, control arms, track bar, steering.. everything

It felt like something binded up and if I was going really slow it would have stopped the jeep dead in its tracks .

Sounds like something my ranger did. Check the gears. I'm sure you are missing a few teeth on the ring and pinion.

I checked every bolt in the front of it and in the back. When it binded up it felt like it was on the passenger side front wheel.

Did you or did you not check the ring and pinion? My ranger did something like that. It locked up, broke lose and drove fine for a little while longer.

No I didn't check the gears yet. I'm off tomorrow so that will be the first thing I do is take the diff cover off and check the teeth.

x2 on the gears. first thing i would do tomorrow morning when you wake up is 1. pray that your gears are ok, 2. pop the diff cover and inspect it

i had the same feeling in my XJ when i broke teeth off the ring gear (twice)

i would check the transfercase chain. its probably stretch or a piece
broken off. it could be getting caught and skipping a tooth. my 2 cents.
