I also stripped out the 90 rad and dropped in a 92 model! Happy ever since!

The main mistake people make with the Renix cooling system is not "burping"/purging it properly. A clean, properly maintained system is adequate enough. Also DO NOT crank down with herculean strength on the expansion tank cap, this is another mistake most make.

I don't have time to read this entire thread but I upgraded to a radiator from a 94 XJ and changed the thermostat housing along with the heater valve. Ran cooler ever since. I kept the pressure bottle as a reserve over flow tank.

Its plastic so age and heat take its toll. Good news is they're cheap. 14 bucks for the bottle and cap from 4Wheel Parts.

I ditched the plastic for aluminum,I have not had a problem with my closed system yet.
I do have a bleeder hole on the upper rad hose and 91+ thermostat housing.

Nice. That's about an average price for an aluminum tank.
