Closed to open cooling system ??
I was reading another post recently that mentioned changing closed cooling system to open cooling system.
I have questions:
What is the difference? What makes one open or closed?
What are the advantages of converting from one to another?

Be sure to click on the links but this one has a parts list with prices to give you an idea of what's needed and the cost.

Advantages of the closed cooling system is that they're thermodynamically more efficient, and run at a lower pressure than open systems. This can increase part lifetimes, etc.
Disadvantage of the closed system is that every single part has to be in working order (not leaking, circulating properly, etc) for it to function properly. Obviously maintenance should be kept up with both systems, but it's pretty well mission critical if you've got a closed system.
