Chrysler Steering Column Swap?

My Chrysler steering column in the 96 XJ is being a POS. I go to turn the key and it locks up and wont let me start the Jeep until I hit the ignition several times with a mag lite (hahaha).
I think I'm going to just replace the entire column and try swapping something nice in. Would it be at all possible to buy a 2011 Jeep steering column (like what's in the new grand cherokees) and install it in my XJ? My mom works for Jeep so I get a really good OEM parts discount...

What would I have to do to remove the current steering column and install a new one? Let me know!

Id say no.Theres nothing that is going to be the same between the two.I.E. mounting points,wiring,length. Rebuild yours. Not that difficult to put a new ignition in.

Yeah but i'm nat a fan of my steering column at all. I want something newer looking than the ancient design of the one I have now. What can I swap in?
