How strong is a 8.25? Would it be reliable locked with 33"?

Both versions are plenty strong enough to handle 33s locked, the 29 spline version of the 8.25 is comparable strength wise to the Dana 44, only downfall is they are c-clip axles.

you shouldnt have any probelm running locked on 33s especially with the 29 spline

It should be able to handle those tires. The 8.25 is pretty strong.

When you install a locker in it, convert it to ZJ disc brakes & that will help you in the event you snap a axel shaft.

I've been locked with my 8.25 for about 6-7 years, running 33's.

I don't go out looking for the tallest mountain. I just like to go where ever I want to!
