chevy straight 6 in 86 renix cherokee
has anyone eever done this? my buddie has a chevy 250 straight six with a 350turbo and 208 transfercase hell sell me for 500 bucks, and ive always wanted a straight 6 in my jeep but didnt want to mess with the 4.0 for wiring and all that, what would your guy input on the swap be. i think itd be pretty straight forward considering its carburated. any input is appreciated

A waste of time and may not be smog legal in your area. You would be money ahead if you found an XJ that already has the 4.0 in it. An 84-86 XJ is not a RENIX XJ. 87-90 are the RENIX years.

I really don't think a Chevy stove bolt 6 will fit without some major cutting of the firewall and transmission tunnel.

Yeah the main problem with swapping a 4.0 into a pre-87 XJ is that it requires modification of the engine bay to physically fit in there. The same would probably go for the Chevy straight six since it is about as long. I have heard of people swapping in a GM 3.4 V6 in place of the 2.8 though.
