Question Cherry Bomb Extreme Conundrum

So I put on a nice CB Extreme about 2 months ago and I have just had the exhaust exiting the side with a piece of flex pipe since the muffler is a hell of a lot shorter than the old one and the exit is a center, not offset. Now comes the time when I want to stop inhaling exhaust gases and actually make the thing legal by tying it into the tailpipe again. Problem is, I can't run a straight piece of pipe from the muffler to the tailpipe because the tailpipe likes to hit the shock and leaf spring when I move it to the side. I need to somehow bend an 18 inch piece of 2.5 diameter pipe into a 15 inch "S" shape to compensate for the muffler exit and shortness. To all those fab guys, is that possible or would the bends be too tight? To everybody in general, have you ever used this same muffler and what did you do to compensate? The part number is 7426 if that helps any. I don't have a pipe bender but I have friends with torches to heat and bend it. I tried once before and it kinked the pipe a little, so I need to take a different approach. Maybe bending it over a rim or other round object? Thanks for any help!

Best bet it take it to an exhaust shop and they will make whatever you need to become legal.

Ya if you don't have the section between the muffler and the tail pipe you will have to get a new pipe made at a exhaust shop.

X2 on these. But if you need a quick fix until you get to the muffler shop, you can buy a flexible exhaust section to hook the two up.

Or you can run a pipe off it angled so it goes under the axle and out the back. Thats how my muffler is. Havent had any fumes inside it yet. Even when doorless.

I need to have it exit the body over here in PA. Otherwise I would just have a turn down after the muffler. I gotta call up a few shops and see how much they would charge to bend a tailpipe. I'd rather have a 2.5 inch tailpipe anyway. Going back down to the stock 2.25 is kinda pointless.

Haha, I wish PA was like florida. I would be able to do a lot of cool things.

I had this exact problem when I ran a glasspack, because it was straight through it turned the tailpipe sideways and never sealed, even had an exhaust shop try to fix it and they got it wrong, but still charged me for it. Fixed it by getting an offset thrush turbo muffler, which sounds A LOT better and seals perfectly.

IMHO glasspacks sound absolutely horrible on 4.0s

Yeah, I don't like glasspacks either on them. The Cherry Bomb Extreme has a nice deep tone to it. More aggressive than the flowmaster, so I chose it instead. I just didn't think I would run into this problem. I might have to end up gettin a new muffler from somewhere, which would suck. I gotta see how much a custom tailpipe would run me.

You can get a prebent pipe from Rusty's Offroad. I got one of their kits for my XJ and it works and sounds great.

Thanks, but that's a replacement for the factory pipe. It would put me in the same dilemma I'm in now.
