Ok do you have a budget of 5 grand if you can do it all yourself,If a shop has to do it double that budget. If no then stick to a rebuilt 2.5 or use it as a reason to buy a 4.0 xj and sell yours.

Hello Bruk, where are you from?

I live in Africa. My 98XJ had a 2.5TD which was ruined after 10 years of use.
I replaced it in 2009 with a Toyota 2.4l "2L" diesel which does not have much
power but it runs fine. I used a Jeep AX5 5-speed and with a Toyota input shaft.
A Toyota 3L (2.8l) would give a little more power.

If you want to use a 5L, you would probably need to put the input shaft from the
Toyota R151 transmission into the AX15 that you have now. The R151 is similar
to the AX15 that you have already.
